This and That

Happy 4th of July.

I baked a loaf of 'No Knead Bread' yesterday. Was easy to do and tasty. Will make some more.

Went to the farmers market Wednesday morning, getting 2 pounds of raspberries and a couple of zucchini, as I am not growing either in the garden (but will next year). The wife made the berries into one of the Raspberry pies that Anne's Granny made last week. Yum. One of the Squash was made into a loaf of Zucchini Bread, also Yum.

In the picture above, the jar is full of Dried Cabbage. Was going to make Sauerkraut but decided that it to warm in the house to do it now. Will try krauting this winter. That jar holds 5 lbs of cabbage. Speaking of cabbage, have had to harvest two cabbages, because they exploded ( split really). Both in the 4 lb range.

Weeds, I hates 'em. To remove the hated weeds I have purchased a shuffle hoe. A Rogue 6 inch Shuffle Hoe from Earthworks. Boy does it work well!!! Cuts things off at or just below the ground. All three edges are SHARP.

That bread looks wonderful! We love the crusty types the best. Are you going to post the recipe?

Home-made sauerkraut is the best. I think that it is kind of disgusting to make though. I make it in the basement. Our weather here has been so so hot...the cabbage is not doing that well. Hopefully, the fall crop will be better.

I wonder if your wife would trade...you for Mr. Granny. LOL! I'll bet you would even eat strawberry pie and butternut squash pie!

That bread looks awesome. I'll echo Robin, recipe please.

Looks like we're going to get some heat by the middle of the week. the tomatoes need it. How's your Clear Pink Early doing? Mine is loaded, and the tomatoes are turning from dark green to light green, so a few warm days should give me some ripe ones. I've eaten four Minigold cherry toms so far.

All - The bread recipe is from The N.Y.Times changed slightly. Add 1 cup whole wheat flour , remove 1 cup standard flour.
Robin - The reason I didn't make Kraut now is it's too hot and I have no cool basement (sure wish I did)to do it in.
AG - The CPE has lots of little green tomatoes on it, some are pale so if you are right, it will be a close for who gets the first ripe one.
